Big Guy's Ranch & Saloon, nestled in the heart of Winnipeg at 200 Meadowood Drive, delivers an authentic taste of hearty North American cuisine paired with a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. As a standout restaurant and bar, Big Guy's expertly blends the charm of a rustic saloon with the comforts of a modern dining spot, making it a go-to destination for those craving generous portions and bold flavors.
The menu is an inviting showcase of comfort food classics elevated by fresh, crafted recipes. Favorites like the Beef Enchiladas — a flour tortilla stuffed with seasoned beef and cheese, smothered in their signature spicy chili gravy and served alongside fluffy Texas rice — truly encapsulate the savory, satisfying experience Big Guy's offers. The Fish Tacos provide a creative twist, featuring sriracha breaded cod wrapped in grilled flour tortillas with a vibrant mix of crisp lettuce, red and green onions, and a rich garlic aioli, rounded out with lime and a tangy dipping sauce for an exciting flavor burst.
If you crave a hearty meal to fill you up, dishes such as the Chicken Fried Steak and the legendary Boom Town Burger deliver on both size and taste, while the Big Guy Fries and Nachos Grande make for ideal starters or sharable snacks, loaded with cheese, grilled onions, jalapeños, seasoned beef, and accompanied by fresh salsa and sour cream. Those who appreciate a bit of spice will relish the Cajun Wings, perfectly crisped with a flavorful kick.
Several diners have highlighted the generous portions and the consistently fantastic service at Big Guy's. Mathew MacMillan was "blown away" by the awesome burger and praised the phenomenal serving staff who create a relaxing and friendly environment. Zak Babson has been a loyal patron for over a decade, noting the staff's genuine warmth—especially observing Sabrina and Nate's welcoming attitudes—which perfectly complements the "very fairly priced" fantastic food. Another enthusiastic reviewer, Rob Warkentin, couldn't stop raving about the fajitas, calling them "the very best" he's ever had, emphasizing both the impressive portion sizes and the inviting atmosphere.
While the majority of experiences are glowing, there are honest moments as well. One guest mentioned the Chicken Fried Steak was somewhat bland at first but improved beautifully with a touch of salt and pepper. This level of feedback reflects the restaurant’s openness and commitment to customer satisfaction, inviting patrons to tailor their experience to their own tastes.
The dining space itself combines a rugged ranch vibe with modern comfort, perfect for casual gatherings, family meals, or unwinding after work with a cold beer from their well-curated selection. Whether you’re here to indulge in the smoky richness of the Beef Ribs, savor the tang of Monterey Chicken, or dive into a hearty bowl of French Onion Soup, Big Guy's Ranch & Saloon promises not only a meal but an experience steeped in warmth, flavor, and genuine hospitality.
For those seeking a place that balances large, satisfying portions, bold dishes, and a welcoming atmosphere, Big Guy's Ranch & Saloon stands out as a true Winnipeg gem that will keep you coming back time and again.
Great food, large portions. Nice relaxing atmosphere. The serving staff was phenomenal. My bud who hasn't been before, was blown away by his awesome burger and already wants to go back again. Highly recommend!
Big Guy's has been my favourite restaurant in the city for the last decade. The service is consistently fantastic. Every member of the staff I've interacted with over the years has always been so friendly and genuine. Sabrina and Nate both stand out as having exceptionally welcoming and positive attitudes every time I've had the pleasure of seeing them. The food is fantastic and very fairly priced given the quality and portions that they serve. I'll continue coming here for years to come. A well earned 5 stars!
Was thrilled with the food (taste/quality/sizing), experience, service, and 'reasonable' pricing. 10/10. This place is a rare phenomenal gem in the terrible modern restaurant landscape of Winnipeg. So disappointed with 90% of places these days. This restaurant though was incredible, totally compares to excellent places like Olympia Diner and such!
What an incredible restaurant. The service was great. The food was absolutely incredible!! The very best fajitas I have ever had. Portions are incredible and you won’t leave here hungry. Love the atmosphere too. If you have a nut allergy there are no nuts in the restaurant. Definitely a restaurant you want to go to over and over. If you are looking for a great meal look no further!!!
Came in with a large party looking to get our belts sufficiently busted. I can say wholeheartedly that this was the case— No belts were spared during this dining experience. Had the chicken fried steak, and yes, it is steak made like fried chicken. It was absurdly large, but sadly somewhat bland. Added some salt and pepper and this helped. Had the baked potato with it and it could have used a little bit of oil and salt on the skin to crisp it up a bit better. Beer was well priced, but the service made the experience. Joyous and attentive, our waitress ensured that we had the proper Big Guys experience. We got to shake hands with the Big Guy (owner) himself on the way out and he thoroughly recommended the cajun chicken for our next visit. The decor was very appropriate for the title, Ranch and Saloon. It was a fun experience, but I would not recommend making further plans after visiting Big Guys, as you will need to go comatose for a bit after.
We came here around 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. Our waiter was wonderful guys very friendly. I wish I could remember his name. Of course we can't speak to the service on a busy day, but the service we experienced was great. The food was nice. Not "wow" but nice and a good price. My chili burger was very tasty. Ribs were tasty but not "best ever" good.
